It is essay grading season, which means high schoolers trying to write. Remember, when editors don't pay writers, this is what you get.
"They all strived to be better than their piers..."
"I think if he/she takes life easy will beable to do anything they want therenot competing there just trying to get by in life."
"It may also affect who is laid" (end of essay)
"[People] who aren't abrehensive end up having nothing or close to nothing."
"...and the man in the dinner ate."
"Not all the time but sometimes it's good to be a little competitive in somethings like if you want to make a goal about you and someone else on getting a better grade."
I'm just glad to no longer see Jarvis Cocker at the top of your blog.
Would you say, based on your years of tutoring/essay grading/etc., that students are getting more or less stupid?

I wouldn't say I've seen much of a difference, really. The problem isn't even the malapropisms listed above, but the acute lack of ability in terms of making and sustaining an argument.
I *will* say that students are less and less able to focus long enough to get through a nearly-four hour exam like the SAT, though.
